I really like to use Gentoo with my PCs, so I created a Gentoo image to use with Roseapple Pi.
I am using the kernel included in Debian image (3.10.37). However, the performance is much better than original image. Every progam you install will be compiled for the CPU.
The image fits to 8gb microSD card.
I have tested the setup with some games (Openarena and Wolfenstein: return to castle). They are running very fast with 60-100 FPS. However, the Wolfenstein sometimes crash. I think the game is poorly ported...
Aircrack-ng -S gives about 1160 k/s
sysbench CPU test with 4 threads and max prime 10000 finishes in 41.56s
glxgears is producing about 789 - 894 FPS.
KDE - while running is quite fast and usable. With Samsung Evo+ 16gb SD card... It is using about 400 MB RAM. Not too much when 2GB RAM available. Without started KDE, only ~80 MB RAM is being used.
And I must mention that NetworkManager is working fine, but its GUI doesn't... In order to add new Wifi connection you should right-click on NetworkManager icon and select "Network Management settings" -> "Add..."
You can start KDE with startx command after logging in.
